You may actually damage your pools coping or even crack the pool body shell of the pool of an in ground concrete gunite or shotcrete pool if you fill the joint between the copping and a concrete deck next to it with a rigid non flexible product like concrete or grout.
Looking at the coping from the pool side there is usually a strip of pool plaster above the tile and below the coping or a grout joint in between the two.
This flexible caulking will protect the two hard edges of the coping stone and the pool tile and keep the tile from breaking off as the pool and the stones expand or contract in hot or cold weather.
Fill the joint between the bottom of the coping stone s leading edge and the pool tile with silicone caulking.
Replacing the grout is a time and labor intensive job but doing it right will ensure several more years of easy swimming pool maintenance.
