Replace rotted door frame threshold.

Use a scrap of the door jamb to scribe the threshold angle transfer the angle to the door stop on the replacement jamb and notch the jamb. Build up toekick and subfloor with pressure treated lumber. Use reciprocating saw to cut the nails securing toekick. If they are rotting purchase new ones cut to the same measurements as the sill and install them at the same time.

Measure from the threshold to the bottom of the door stop. If your threshold is in rough shape replace it. Measure the length width and thickness of the old threshold and have a replacement with a similar pro file on hand. Remove the rotted jamb by tapping it away from the head jamb and cutting the nails.

How to replace a door threshold in 9 steps step 1. Wood rot occurs when there is a high level of water and a food source wood. If the threshold is rotted the sill probably is too. Remove old threshold from doorway using hammer and reciprocating saw.
